About this Project

Issue – The previous CCTV system was considered obsolete and no longer met the operational needs of our security framework. Its outdated technology limited functionality, affecting surveillance quality and reliability. Key features that are essential for effective monitoring and incident response were lacking, making it inadequate for current security demands. Upgrading to a modern system was necessary to ensure comprehensive coverage and improved image clarity, ultimately providing a more secure environment.

KTS Solution – Key Technical Services developed and installed an IT based CCTV system, this large project required the installation of network cabling, switches, cameras, workstations and enterprise servers, the enterprise server hardware runs the CCTV VMS service (Milestone) which required planning with the various stakeholders and external software providers.

The network itself is a fibre optic backbone utilising Layer 3 Cisco Catalyst switches.

CCTV data is itself segregated into various virtual networks to improve security and prevent access to video streams from unauthorized or malicious users.

Onsite security staff now have various workstations running the Milestone client, all interconnected via fast fibre optic cabling back to the onsite data centre which houses the server infrastructure and storage arrays for recording.

An appropriate number of cameras are now placed around the site, all of the cameras are monitored for security and firmware updates which are applied using a regular patch management routine.
